The Italian Serie A club, AC Milan, has confirmed that striker Brahim Díaz is currently out for the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury.
Díaz has been sidelined since the beginning of this month and was expected to return in the coming weeks but his symptoms have persisted and he has now had to undergo surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his shoulder.
"I am very disappointed by the situation we find ourselves in," said AC Milan's head coach Marco Settepanne after the news broke. "It will be a long time before he can return to training or play."
The injury is particularly concerning as Díaz has already made significant contributions during his time at the club, scoring 15 goals in all competitions last season.
However, the impact of the injury on Díaz could be severe and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to resume playing in the near future.
"It is unfortunate that we are unable to bring him back quickly enough," added Settepanne. "But I would like to reassure everyone that there is still hope for him and that we will continue to monitor his progress closely."
