Title: Bournemouth Dark Horse Wins 2-1 West Ham United
Bournemouth, England's second-largest club, has taken the lead in its Premier League campaign after a thrilling 2-1 victory over West Ham United at The Valley Stadium on Sunday.
The game began with a dramatic opening goal from West Ham's Ben Chilwell, who scored his first goal for the club in four months. However, Bournemouth responded quickly and went ahead in the 8th minute when Jordan Pickford saved a header from a corner kick by Jordan Rhodes.
West Ham had a chance to equalize just before half-time but missed their opportunity as Bournemouth goalkeeper Jamie Reay made a diving save to keep out a shot from Callum Hudson-Odoi.
In the second half, Bournemouth continued to dominate possession and were rewarded with two goals within five minutes. In the 44th minute, Jack Wilshere found the back of the net with a low strike that was parried by Reay but was deflected into the bottom-right corner by substitute Jonjo Shelvey.
A minute later, Bournemouth doubled their lead with another goal from Chilwell. A long-range shot from the left wing was deflected into the top corner by Shelvey, who then headed home from close range to make it 2-0 with 25 seconds remaining in the match.
West Ham did manage to level the score late in the game, however, with a penalty shootout. After being fouled in the box, West Ham midfielder Phil Foden fired a penalty through the goal. However, Bournemouth goalkeeper Jamie Reay made a diving save to deny the shot, which was ruled offside.
Despite the result, both teams will be looking forward to the next game against Crystal Palace, which is set to take place on Monday night. The home side has already secured a spot in the Champions League group stage, while West Ham will look to bounce back from this defeat.
